STEM literacy is the ability to apply an understanding of how the world works within and across the four areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. It does not simply mean achieving literacy in these areas individually.
STEM literacy, and beyond that, fluency, refers to the ability to investigate, question, and use these facets of the world in an interdisciplinary manner.
