Welcome to OELAS
The Office of English Language Acquisition Services (OELAS) operates within the Arizona Department of Education. Pursuant to A.R.S. 15-756, OELAS develops guidelines for monitoring school districts and charter schools to ensure compliance with all federal and state laws regarding English language learners, develops programs to enhance all aspects of training for teachers and administrators, publishes English language learner policy guidelines for school districts and charter schools notifying school districts and charter schools of their responsibilities and provides technical assistance to school districts and charter schools to implement structured English immersion programs.
