High Academic Standards for Students

K-12 Literacy 

Arizona’s English Language Arts Standards challenge all stakeholders to participate in a statewide collaborative effort to ensure every child will acquire language and literacy skills that will allow them to be college and career ready. To support this effort, the Arizona Department of Education is offering a three-day Leadership Institute using the trainer of trainer model to assist LEAs in the implementation of the 2010 Arizona English Language Arts Standard. Participants who meet the certification requirements will receive training materials, receive updates and changes to the training, be eligible for summer refresher trainings, and be part of a cadre of trainers who may be used to provide future trainings.

Intended Audience:

  • District and school personnel who are responsible for professional development are the intended audience.

Prerequisites:

  • Attendance at the two-day 2010 Arizona English Language Arts Standards Roll Out
  • Experience in teaching and assessing Language Arts
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory

 

Application and Statement of Assurances:

Before being admitted into the Arizona English Language Arts Standards Leadership Institute, applicants must complete and sign both the application and the statement of assurances. 

The completed application must be signed by a representative of the district who can assure the applicant’s eligibility.
