Face to Face Trainings

This one-day workshop will address Common Core ELA Shift 4 Text-based Answers and how this impacts the instruction of English language learners. The workshop will model and use various activities to demonstrate a close reading as an instructional support and practice providing teachers with a routine to use with all English proficiency levels. Participants will gain understanding of text complexity and text selection appropriate for close reading and developing text dependent questions. The workshop will focus on the research of Fisher and Frey. Participants will receive an informational text for use in classroom instruction.

IDEAL Online Opportunities

The 45 hour Structured English Immersion Completion classes are available  online through IDEAL.  Spring classes are currently underway. 
Videos of SEI methodologies being modeled are available at IDEAL. The videos are labeled so as to indicate the appropriate proficiency level and stage, as well as include a wealth of additional valuable information.
The methodologies shown can be used for all parts of the Language Star (Phonology, Morphology, Syntax, Lexicon and Semantics). Also included are videos on timely topics taken from the 2009 OELAS conference.
