Due to prior year budget reductions and fund sweeps, ADE continues to seek ways to reduce costs while trying to minimize impact on our customers. Because of low traffic volume at our Tucson office and with the implementation of a new online certification system within the next year, the Arizona Department of Education will close the Tucson Certification office effective October 22, 2012.
The new online certification system will deliver exceptional services for those requiring certification. The last day the Tucson Certification Office will be open is Friday, October 19, 2012.
Customer service, to include completing certification services as effectively and quickly as possible, will continue to be our primary goal.
- Effective January 2013, the Certification Outreach Team will provide certification services twice a month at the 400 W. Congress building on the second floor. A schedule will be forthcoming.
- The Certification Outreach Team will also continue to do on-site certification services for districts in the southern region. Please contact Maria Wells at 602-542-2378 or maria.wells@azed.gov to schedule a Certification on-site.
- Additionally, we encourage applicants to mail their completed applications to our Phoenix office at P.O. Box 6490, Phoenix, Arizona 85005-6490. Please visit our website for downloadable applications at http://www.azed.gov/educator-certification/
We sincerely regret any inconvenience this action may cause Arizona’s Educators. If you should have further questions, please contact Jan Pentek, Executive Director of Teacher Certification Unit at 602-542-4000 or janet.pentek@azed.gov
