Internship

A CTE internship is the final course in the sequence of courses of an approved CTE program. Internships offer students exposure to a professional work environment that aligns with CTE coursework, program standards, skills, and theory. Internships use training agreements and training plans to outline what students are expected to learn and demonstrate at the worksite, and what training partners are expected to provide. Training agreements and training plans outline the coordination, and integration, of the worksite and the classroom.

  • The CTE internship must be directly related to the CTE program in which the credit is earned.
  • Internships may be paid or unpaid work experience.
  • Students who are at least 16 years of age are eligible to participate.
  • Students must be enrolled in a CTE program prior to enrolling in CTE internship.
  • The course should be completed with their CTE sequence or concurrently enrolled in the last year of their CTE sequence.

It is a local school and district decision to provide summer school internships. If a school or district chooses to offer summer school internship opportunities:

  1. ADM requirements must be met.
  2. 120-hour requirement will apply for CCRI points.
