Workplace employability skills are critical to getting and keeping a job, as well as advancing in a career. While technical skills are also critical, employers need workers with workplace skills. In 2010 Arizona business and industry and educational leaders came together to discuss and define the skills needed in the Arizona workplace. They coined the term “skills as action in the workplace.” The workplace employability skills definitions, conceptualization, standards, and rubrics (found below) are products of this dialogue. Arizona is in the process of implementing the Arizona Workplace Employability Skills in all classrooms, as part of our Arizona Career and College Ready initiative.
