6th Annual Cybersecurity Calendar Contest

The 6th Annual Cybersecurity Calendar Contest is underway! From now until December 14th, any Arizona student in grades K-12 (including your own!) can enter their original piece of artwork portraying their cyber experiences when it comes to internet, social media, and computer safety.

 

Deadline: December 14, 2018

Artwork: Original hand drawn artwork (8.5 x 11 or 8.5 x 14)

Winners: A total of 13 winners (one for each calendar month plus the cover) with one grand prize winner. Chosen artwork will be published in the 2019/2020 calendar and will also have the opportunity to win additional prizes at an awards ceremony

Teachers: Teacher participation is extremely important! Teachers who have students participate and win will be recognized.

Event: An awards ceremony announcing the winners will take place at the Arizona Department of Administration in Spring 2019

 

We’re excited to see the creativity from our Arizona children and the compelling messages that they bring out about cyber issues in their world!

AzDEO Student Choreography Contest

AzDEO is pleased to announce its Student Choreography Contest for 2018-19. Students in Middle and High School, and College are encouraged to submit their choreography for adjudication.

 

 

Criteria:

  1. Must be based on the given theme. This year the theme is “Landmarks” (can be a physical location, a “landmark moment” in your life, a landmark moment in history, a landmark event).
  2. Maximum length is 4 minutes.
  3. Only the choreography will be judged, but performance can affect the quality of the choreography.
  4. Choreographer does not have to be a performer.

Choreography Criteria

  1. Composition, Originality/Creativity, Visual Effect, Interpretation of   Accompaniment
  2. Must be submitted digitally to the google drive link. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1fXreUZZPRZpMrFCn2KhHtQMcJDTLjT7c.
    1. MP4 format only
    2. Must include your name, age, school at the beginning of the video, and a written artistic statement also submitted (include your name, age and school).

Submissions are due Oct. 15th, Jan. 15th and March 15th. Each deadline date is for a new round of adjudication.

Only 4 submissions per school per each submission deadline. 4 may be submitted in October, 4 in January, 4 in March.

AzDEO will award a certificate to the student and school.

2018 International Biosafety Month Posters Contest

Arizona State University Environmental Health and Safety will host its first “International Biosafety Month Poster Contest”!

The contest is open to all Arizona K–8 students and is intended to increase the students’ interest in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math fields, and to foster awareness on the topics of biosafety and biosecurity. The contest consists of two divisions:

Students in grades K–5 will use their imagination to create and submit posters illustrating the theme — How would you stop germs?

Students in grades 6–8 will submit posters illustrating the theme — Biosafety: defending the Earth from germs.


Important dates and deadlines

Poster submission deadline:   Monday, October 1, 2018 – Entries postmarked after the deadline will not be accepted.
Award notifications mailed:     Monday, November 12, 2018
Contest winners recognized:   Friday, December 14, 2018 at the 2018 Arizona Biosecurity Workshop.

ADE Student Opportunity: WeAreAz 4th Grade Collaborative Visual Arts Competition!

 

The “We Are Arizona!” 4th Grade Collaborative Student Artwork Competition is a visual arts integration contest for 4th grade students from around the State of Arizona. Students participate in the contest by working with their classmates to create and submit an original work of art designed around the theme:

“We Are Arizona!”

 

Under the supervision of their teacher, 4th grade students within a single classroom or grade level will work together to integrate their recently-acquired knowledge of Arizona – its rich and enduring history, its magnificent and awe-inspiring vistas, its industrious and rugged people, and its diverse and vibrant cultures – into a cohesive and inspiring work of art. ALL visual media – including tapestry, sculpture, paintings and drawings, collage, photography, and mixed media artworks – are eligible for Entry.

The contest is open to all Arizona 4th grade students working collaboratively within a single classroom or school! You can access the Entry Form and Rules/Requirements on our Arts Education Portal!

 

All WeAreAz entries are due to ADE by December 14th at 5:00 pm.

With our NEW Social Study Standards still in the works, we will once again be collaborating with 4th Grade for the WeAreAz Competition! Depending on how things land with the standards revision, we may be engaging different grade bands in the future.

Arizona Theatre Company staff and ATC-selected professional teaching artists lead students through immersive training that contributes to an experience that prepares young people for a creative and engaged life in the arts – or in any field!

Summer Backstage is all about the magic that takes place behind the scenes. Participants take classes with our Summer on Stage students and learn from ATC’s team of professional designers and technicians about theatrical design and management in preparation for a role as a backstage crew member for the two performances.

Phoenix Center for the Arts: Mayor’s Arts Awards- Nominate your favorite Artist today!

Public nominations are now being accepted for the 2018 Mayor’s Arts Awards. All nominees will be asked to fill out a more detailed application in June to define and showcase their work.

We like to see work that is innovative, collaborative, and makes an impact on the people of Phoenix. Excellent nominees are those emerging and/or in their early-to-mid careers.

DEADLINE: May 4, 11:59pm

The Mayor’s Arts Awards serve to identify outstanding leaders in five areas: Culinary Artist (new!), Dance Artist, Literary Artist, Music Artist, Theatre Artist, Visual Artist, Young Artist (age 12-17, also new!), and Innovative Arts Organization. Nominees will be chosen based on the criteria of innovation, impact, and collaboration.
