| Description: | The Arizona Opportunities Industrialization Center(OIC)was founded in April 1967 as a private, non-profit community based organization designed to address the critical employability needs of Phoenix's economically disadvantaged and ethnic minority citizens. Over the past 33 years, Arizona OIC has operated innovative employment programs and successfully provided training to the unemployed and underemployed residents of Phoenix. Arizona OIC has served over 30,000 and placed over 20,000 in meaningful jobs. The variety of programs offered include employment training, alternative education systems and community economic development. Statistics show that approximately 45% of our trainees were welfare recipients prior to their enrollment and the average salary earned at placement after Arizona OIC training is about 50% higher than at the time of enrollment. Arizona OIC has demonstrated its effectiveness in vocational training and has established a delivery system that is efficient and unique. |
